Introducing the last nail grinding wheel you will buy for a year or longer.
This is a diamond coated carbide wheel that replaces the paper wheels your putting on your Dremmel to grind nails. It fits on the mantle your currently using on your Dremmel, and they don’t break apart. This wheel is washable, and you can grind nails right in the tub to keep the dust down and where the nails are softest. You can use it on dogs, cats, horses, any reptile, and even birds. One unique thing about this wheel is if the nail has rough edges after clipping, this wheel wont splinter the nail like the paper wheels do sometimes. It leaves a very smooth finish without the vibration the paper wheels are known to do that scares the dog. Its not as expensive as you might think when you compare the wheels you use now and when they break apart when doing a nail.
NOTE: Yes they can get warm or hot because its made of metal. On small dogs the wheel doesn't get hot, but on the second set of nails on big dogs it can. Here is what we do. When we do a big dogs nails we get a cup of cold water and have it nearby. When the wheel gets warm or hot, we shut the Dremmel off and stick the end with the wheel in that cup of cold water. 10 seconds later its cold. Its a small thing to do when your saving money, paper wheels splitting, sand getting blown in your face ect. Also, if the dog comes in for a nail trim and grinding and has wet or snowy feet its OK to use the wheel without drying the feet off first.
What is it made of? This wheel was manufactured to be very cost efficient for the tool and die industry. They are mounted right after a piece of metal came out of a lathe, and the burrs from the machining process were taken off. This eliminated an additional step in the cleaning off process. When the wheel are made, a long brass tube is heated to almost melting and the diamond dust is impregnated to the metal, then cooled. Then the tube is cut into 1/2 in lengths. Cheaper wheels are not made this way, the diamond dust (or glass) is epoxyed to the brass tube, not as good.
